Making connections

Making connections with other member organisations is an amazing way to share experiences and discuss motions from the conference. Throughout the conference we speak to hundreds of people from countries all over the world.

Tonight I joined 4 other countries for dinner so we could share our experiences and grow global friendships. We discussed some of the motions which had been put to the member organisations over the previous few days- a great thing for us to do and see if our Organisations ideas are similar. Candidates for the World Board were also a hot topic, who do we want to be on the world board for the next six years- a big decision we need to make. With voting tomorrow it's great to have everything clear in our heads.

Previous connections were also made- 2 of us were both at the Swedish Jamboree in 2007! It's amazing that so many of us have been to the same events over the years. This was however seen on the first day when it took us about an hour to walk a few metres as everyone was say hello to people they hadn't seen for years!

After dinner we then attended a reception by the Asia Pacific. Amazing food and national dress greeted us as well as entertainment delivered by young people. It was another great opportunity to join in fun, friendship and a chance to relax.

We have 2 days left to meet the remainder of the delegates (or try!) so we make the most of our time together at this World Conference and gather information to benefit Girlguiding in the UK so we can reach Vision 2020.
