Today our World Association expanded into new countries. It was humbling to see just how much it meant to the Cook Islands, Cameroon, Guinea, Mongolia and Armenia to become Full Members of WAGGGS and for Myanmar to be readmitted as an Associate Member.
Girlguiding UK can take particular pride in seeing the National Union of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts of Armenia pass this milestone. Guiding Overseas Linked with Development (GOLD) projects took place there between 2009 and 2013, supporting the growth of the organisation through member recruitment and leadership training.
Lilit Chikingaryan, International Commissioner for NUGGGS passes on her thanks
"On behalf of the National Union of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts of Armenia "Astghik" I would like to say a big thank you to all the members of Girlguiding UK who have been involved in Armenia GOLD projects and also Girlguiding UK staff supporting this incredible experience. I do believe that all the hard work, commitment, passion and enthusiasm has had a huge impact on the NUGGGS development which brought us today to become a full member of WAGGGS. This is a dream come true for us and there is definitely GOLD projects role in it. We appreciate it a lot and would love to thank all the GOLD project girls one more time.
We would like to share this special moment for NUGGGS with you all as we will always be grateful for everything you have done for NUGGGS."
Such brilliant news! So happy to have played a small part in helping you achieve your dream and to have had the opportunity to work with your girls and leaders. I know how hard you have worked towards this and it's finally paid off....now the door is wide open for you to continue your fab work. Well done NUGGGS!
